Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. has come out with a new homeowners insurance product that targets the environmentally conscious. The insurance covers the cost of rebuilding a home to green building standards. Even if that home wasn’t green to begin with!

The green coverage, expected to be available country wide by the end of the year, is only being offered as an add-on to the company’s top-tier homeowners insurance package. The coverage can be added for an additional $25/year for a home with a replacement cost not exceeding $500k. So, baby steps, but what a great step it is!
