Low-VOC and No-VOC Paints

According to the EPA, indoor air quality is one of the top five leading health risks. Gases, including formaldehyde, emitted from paint on your walls can be one of the sources. Most paints are formulated with solvents called Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). VOCs are in oil based paints and latex based paints.

You know how you can’t stand to be in a freshly painted room because of the odor! Your body was telling you that you were being poisoned. Quite unfortunately, one of the first things we do when we find out we are having new baby is to slap a fresh coat of pollutant on the walls of the new baby’s room.

Look for low-VOC and no-VOC paints. Also, homes can be tested for VOC emmisions.
